Usrah Session 6: Zakat
Welcome back everyone. New week new chapter new motivation
Topic for this week is Zakat. What is Zakat? Zakat is an Islamic finance term referring to the obligation that an individual has to donate a certain proportion of wealth each year to charitable causes. Zakat is a mandatory process for Muslims and is regarded as a form of worship.
Who Are Eligible For Zakat?
To be eligible to receive zakat, the recipient must be poor and/or needy. A poor person is someone whose property, in excess of his basic requirements, does not reach the nisab threshold. The recipient must not belong to your immediate family; your spouse, children, parents and grandparents cannot receive your zakat
Benefits of Giving Zakat
1. Purify our property.
2. Purify our heart.
3. Help the needy.
However it is very crucial for the zkaah institutioni to distribute the zakah to the right people who really deserve it. And Alhamdulillah. I often heard that they really did their job and helped distributed the zakah well.
